March 7: Simon & Garfunkel's album Bridge Over Troubled Water started a ten week stay at No. 1 on the US chart. The duo had split by the time of release.
March 8: 1954 - The Stargazers were a No. 1 on the UK singles chart with 'I See The Moon', the group's second No. 1
March 9: 1963 - Appearing at the East Ham Granada, London were Tommy Roe, Chris Montez and bottom of the bill, The Beatles.
March 10: 1956 - RCA Records placed a half-paged ad in Billboard magazine claiming that Elvis Presley was "the new singing rage".
March 11: 1968 - The Otis Redding single 'Dock Of The Bay' went Gold three months after the singer was killed in a plane crash.
March 12: 1955 - Jazz saxohonist Charlie Parker died of a heart attack in New York while watching Tommy Dorsey's Orchestra on television. He was 34.
March 13: 1956 - RCA Records issued the first album and extended play releases by Elvis Presley.
