Schmitt, Harms participate in Iowa Shrine Bowl as Langenfeld was on the Cheer squad, North team wins

The 50th Annual Iowa Shrine Bowl was held on Saturday evening at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. The North team edged out the South 24-17. Future Iowa player Aaron Graves was named the Defensive MVP with a three-sack game. His future teammate at Iowa Landyn Van Kekerix was the Offensive MVP with two rushing touchdowns and a 22-yard catch in the game. He’s expected to play linebacker for the Hawkeyes.

A number of area players participated in the weeklong event. Tyler Schmitt of East Sac County, Easton Harms of OABCIG, On the Cheer Squad was Kira Langenfeld of Denison-Schleswig and Coach of the Cheer Squad Heather Langenfeld of Denison-SchleswigAudubon’s Gavin Smith played at the Corner spot and was joined by his coach Sean Birks who was part of the South coaching staff. Brock Sell of Glenwood, Logan Green of Clarinda, Cal Wanninger of Kuemper Catholic, Easton Eledge of Underwood, Avery Fuller of Creston, and Nick Miller of Lewis Central were also on the South squad.
