"Suspicious" house fire last night in Carroll

Last night, what officials are calling a suspicious explosion and fire happened at a Carroll residence. No one was home but the Carroll Fire Department was called to the residence shortly before 9 p.m. and upon arrival, firefighters found that the garage was fully engulfed in flames and that damage had even extended into the home. Carroll FD Assistant Chief, Bob Shields, told reporters that the fire was pretty intense for a while, but was able to be tamed relatively quick. Smoke and water damage to the house likely deems the residence a total loss. The Carroll Fire Department was on scene for a couple of hours and were assisted by the Carroll Police Department, the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and Carroll County EMS. The fire was considered suspicious, therefore the Iowa Fire Marshal has been notified.
