Denison Police report pair of OWI arrests, separate hit-and-run accident
The Denison Police Department is reporting a trio of incidents dating back to last Tuesday.
Police arrested an 18-year-old male near Broadway at just before 3 a.m. on Sunday for his first offense of operating while under the influence.
Denison PD made an additional OWI arrest Sunday night at around 8:20 p.m. near North 7th Street and North 9th Street and Avenue C. Officers took 37-year-old Oscar Shul Aguilar of Denison into custody for his second offense after he fell asleep while driving and struck a pole at Sparkey's.
All charges are allegations and the persons named in a case are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
A motor vehicle accident reportedly occurred on 8th Avenue North at almost 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 27. The related document indicates that 20-year-old Alex Mohr of Denison was traveling west down the hill in a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu. She later told police a darker-colored Jeep SUV type pulled out from the east gravel parking area in Northside Rec and struck the front driver side of her Malibu. Mohr stated the Jeep did not stop and turned south on North 18th Street before turning east out of sight. Mohr also described a partial license plate and stated there should be damage to the front passenger side on the Jeep. Denison PD later found a blue Jeep Grand Cherokee with damage to the front passenger side. No injuries were reported. The driver of the Jeep was later cited for Violation of Graduated License Condition. Damage estimates totaled $1,000 for the Malibu and $200 for the Jeep.
