Crawford County Sheriff's Office investigating alleged Schleswig theft
The Crawford County Sheriff's Office received a call about an alleged theft in Schleswig at approximately 10 a.m. Thursday. The caller reported that at some time within the last two weeks unknown subject(s) broke the padlocks on a garage and Quonset building near 190th Street. The equipment reported stolen included a large Craftsman air compressor, lots of copper and aluminum, eight vehicle rims, copper cables off of two welders, a 20-inch toolbox full of tools, 5 car and tractor batteries, and a pair of lawnmower batteries along with additional miscellaneous tools and items. The incident remains under investigation.
The sheriff's office responded to an accident at around 6 p.m. Thursday on E16 west of Breda. A van hit a deer but managed to get out of the roadway and the report listed no injuries.
A separate incident occurred near Westside at just after 7 p.m. Thursday. A 2012 Dodge Charger reportedly hit a deer on the 1400 block of 400th Street.
