Pocohontas County car accident sends several area passengers to hospital
Six people, including area passengers were injured in a two vehicle accident in Pocahontas County on Friday, September 4th as Iowa State Patrol reports that they responded to the scene on Highways 3 and 15 east of Pocahontas just after 6pm Friday evening. Initial investigations show that 17 year old Adrian Kannard Rockwell City was headed east on Highway 3 in a 2013 Dodge Dart and making a turn north onto highway 15. At the same time, 65 year old Thomas Hemmingsen of Newell was headed west on highway 3 in a 2015 Ford F-250 and struck Kannard's vehicle in the westbound traffic lane. Three passengers were airlifted two Des Moines for treatment of serious injuries. Among those passengers were a 15 and 16 year old from Fonda, and 65 year old Patricia Bartholomew of Boone. Kannard was transported to Spencer Hopsital by Pocahontas County Emergency Medical Services and Hemmingsen as well as 64 year old Michael McNace of Lake View were taken to Humboldt County Memorial Hospital by Humboldt County Emergency Medical Services.
