The 35th annual Christmas Crusade for Children began November 1st here on KDSN.
This program is a cooperative effort between KDSN Radio, Denison Police Department, Crawford County Sheriff's Office, and other county law enforcement agencies. The goal of the program is to identify children, age 13 and younger, who may not be receiving anything for Christmas due to financial restraints. A list of the identified children and gift requests are provided to KDSN. We announce the information on the air to get community citizens or organizations to adopt a child and purchase a gift for them.
If you are aware of any family whose children would benefit from the Christmas Crusade Program, please have them contact the Denison PD at (712) 263-3195, Crawford County Sheriff's Office at (712) 263-2146, or another local law enforcement agency to learn how they can enroll their children in the program.
We were able to provide gifts to 169 children last year and the Christmas Crusade has provided gifts for 7,372 children during the program's 35 years. Sunday, November 14th is the last day they will be accepting applications for this year. Denison PD will deliver the list of names to KDSN for announcements to begin that Tuesday, November 16th. Friday, December 17th is the last day to deliver gifts to KDSN with the gift wrapping party set for Sunday, December 19th at Our Savior Lutheran Church. The gifts will be delivered during the week leading up to Christmas Day.
