Crawford County Sheriff's Office impounds pickup that wrecked near Dow City

The Crawford County Sheriff's Department received a report about a vehicle in a ditch along Earling Road at approximately 10:47 p.m. Tuesday.

The responding officer arrived at 11:05 p.m. and spent about half an hour on the scene. A resident of Dow City reported that the 2020 Dodge Ram took out a directional sign on the west side of the highway and then fishtailed into the east ditch before hitting the embankment. The airbags deployed and an unknown male subject reportedly took off from the scene with a cut on his forehead. The related document indicates that the truck sustained considerable front-end damage and the sheriff's office took it to the impound to hold for driver and insurance information. The damage done to the county sign will cost about $500 to replace.
