Denison PD reports 6 incidents dating back to late October

The Denison Police Department is reporting six incidents since late October.

The most recent public release states that at some time between midnight and 3 a.m. on Sunday, November 7 an unknown vehicle caused damage to a mailbox on the 2400 block of 2nd Ave South. No arrest has been made and the report lists fifth-degree criminal mischief as the initial charge for an apprehended suspect.

Denison PD made a pair of arrests on Friday, November 5.

They took 35-year-old Jessica Cayetano of Sioux City into custody at approximately 6:53 p.m. near North 11th Street and Avenue C for driving while her license is suspended.

They apprehended Mark Ohl of Holt, Missouri at around 8:40 p.m. near Boulders Drive and booked the 56-year-old male on an active warrant from Clinton County, Missouri.

A Denison resident reported to Denison PD at about 6 p.m. Friday that the window of his 2002 Saturn had the window broken out while it was sitting in the Ampride parking lot. No arrest has been made and the report lists fourth-degree criminal mischief as the initial charge for an apprehended suspect.

All charges are allegations and the persons named in a case are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The most recent motor vehicle accident happened Saturday, November 6 at approximately 2:39 p.m. near South 11th Street. The report states that a 2014 Toyota Sienna driven by 51-year-old Jose Amaya of Dow City was traveling South on South 11th Street. A 2014 Buick Encore piloted by 63-year-old Connie Christiansen of Denison entered the roadway from the Country Store parking lot which caused Amaya's Sienna to strike the Buick SUV. The report listed no injuries. Christiansen admitted fault for the accident to police and they cited her for failing to yield right of way. The damage estimate for the disabled Buick is $4,000 and repairs to the Toyota van are expected to cost $3,000.

A separate collision took place on Thursday, October 28 at around 10:30 p.m. near South 9th Street. A 2014 Chevrolet Cruze driven by 18-year-old Edgar Guillermo was westbound on 1st Ave South. A Chevrolet pickup truck was reportedly southbound on 9th Street and is required to yield at the intersection due to a posted yield sign. The related document indicates the vehicles collided in the intersection and the Chevy pickup left the scene post-impact without providing information. The report lists no injuries and the Cruze will cost an estimated $750 to fix.
