Crawford County Supervisors amend pay increases, approve property tax levy

The Crawford County Board of Supervisors passed a pair of resolutions and scheduled a public hearing at their weekly meeting on Tuesday.

The supervisors revisited amending Resolution 2022-7 after discussing it last week. The compensation board recommended pay increases of 20% for the sheriff and 5% for all other elected officials earlier this year. The supervisors proposed amending those numbers to 14% for the sheriff and 3.5% for the others after recent work with the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. They passed the amendment on a 4-1 vote Tuesday.

The supervisors unanimously passed a property tax levy resolution after hosting a brief public hearing with no oral or written objections. They also set a public hearing for next fiscal year’s budget. That is scheduled for Tuesday, March 29th at 10 a.m. at the courthouse.

County Engineer Paul Assman reported to the supervisors that an oil spill affecting nearly 10 miles of secondary road is under investigation by law enforcement. The board hosted a half-hour discussion with Crawford County Memorial Hospital CEO Erin Muck and several others about plans for ambulance service going forward. The board later entered into a closed session to discuss a purchase of the City Center.
