Carroll Woman Pleads Not Guilty To Felony Charges After High Speed Pursuit

18-year-old Kylie Jo Felix of Carroll has pled not guilty to multiple felony charges after leading law enforcement into a high-speed pursuit in November.  According to Carroll Broadcasting, Felix attempted to elude the Carroll Police Department in a 2022 Nissan Maxima, reaching speeds of up to 96 mph during the pursuit.  Felix was stopped using the deployment of spike strips about six miles south of Carroll. She refused to comply with a field sobriety test but supplied a preliminary breath test (PBT), which showed a blood alcohol content of 0.15 percent, nearly twice the legal limit. While being taken into custody, authorities say Felix then caused an estimated $1,500 damage to a patrol vehicle, damaging the hood and cracking its front windshield. Felix is facing charges of eluding at speeds 25 mph or more over the limit and second-degree criminal mischief, class D felonies, first offense operating under the influence, a serious misdemeanor, and interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor. Felix is scheduled for a jury trial at the Carroll County Courthouse on Jan. 23, 2025. If convicted, Felix faces up to a maximum sentence of 11 years in prison and $17,500 in fines with the combined charges.
