Manning Man Turns Himself In After Violating Pre-Trial Release Conditions
A Manning man has turned himself into the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office after allegedly violating the conditions of his pre-trial release. Michael William Alexander, 38, surrendered on a warrant for breaching the terms of his release while awaiting sentencing for charges related to sexual abuse. According to Carroll County District Court records, Alexander violated his pre-trial release by leaving a court-ordered program, missing scheduled appointments, and failing to maintain contact with his probation officer.
Alexander was originally charged in 2019 with two counts of third-degree sexual abuse of a child, both class C felonies, for the abuse of a 13-year-old. Following a special sentencing requirement, which mandates serving at least 85 percent of a life sentence, Alexander reached a plea agreement, pleading guilty to two counts of lascivious acts with a child, also class C felonies.
Currently, Alexander is being held at the Carroll County Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond. A hearing has been scheduled for January 13, 2025, to address the charges.
