Carroll County Non-Fatal Semi and Pickup Collision
Authorities respond to the scene of a collision between a semi and pick up just south of Arcadia.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene at the intersection of Highway 30 and Crystal Avenue around 12:45 pm Monday afternoon. The initial investigation showed a 2018 International Semi-Tractor Trailer, driven by 47-year-old William Robeson of Monroe, NC, was headed East on Highway 30.
Karen Wetzstein, 82-year-old of Lake View, was stopped in her 2012 Chevy Colorado pickup. She was facing South on Crystal Avenue and preparing to turn east when a second semi next to her started to turn West onto Highway 30. Authorities reported the semi turning west obstructing Wetzstein’s view of the oncoming semi driven by Robeson. She continued into the intersection and collided with the tires on the driver’s side of Robeson’s trailer.
No injuries were reported, but vehicle damage was estimated at $2500 for Robeson’s Trailer. Wetzstein’s pickup was labeled a total loss with an estimation of $10,000 in damages.
