Carroll Man Charged with Indecent Acts with a Minor Granted Deferred Judgement
A Carroll Man accused of sexual solicitation of a minor was sentenced Tuesday in Carroll County’s District Court.
Court records state, 19-year-old Calvin Kienast, was charged with two counts of third-degree sexual abuse, which is a class C felony, last March. In September, Kienast reached a plea agreement, which amended the charges to a single count of lascivious acts with a child, a class D felony. He was arrested last February following an investigation by the Carroll Police Department. The investigation found that Kienast had sexual contact with a 13-year-old female in June of 2019. His sentence was handed down Tuesday when he was granted a deferred judgment. He was placed on probation with the Department of Correctional Services for a term of five years maximum. Kienast is required to file with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry within five days of the order. His sentence also includes a fine of over $1,100, court fees, and is prohibited from contacting the young victim through January 2026.
