Oil Spill into Storm Sewer in Denison
DENISON, Iowa - On Monday June 21d, 2025, a Denison City employee observed what appeared to be oil leaking south from Wheels and Deals, LLC on South 15th Street. The fluid continued West on 5th Avenue South and entered a storm sewer at the corner of 5th Avenue South and South Main Street.
An unknown amount of product made it in the storm sewer; however, no product made it into the river. Thanks to the timely response of Denison Municipal Utilities, Denison Public Works, Denison Fire Department, Denison Police Department, Crawford County Emergency Management, and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the contamination was contained.
