Body of a drowning victim recovered from a NW IA lake Saturday

(Le Mars, Iowa) – The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office says the body of a swimmer who went missing Saturday evening was recovered soon thereafter from a lake in northwest Iowa. Authorities had received a call about a missing person and a possible drowning at Kellen’s Ponderosa – a swimming lake south of LeMars – at around 7-p.m, Saturday, June 21st. According to the sheriff’s report, a 27-year-old man was swimming with friends when he disappeared.
The 27-year-old’s body was recovered by authorities and ruled as drowning by the local medical examiner.The name of the victim was not immediately released.
The Le Mars Police Department, Le Mars Fire and Rescue, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Sioux County Dive Team assisted at the scene.
