Pursuit and Crash early Sunday morning claims one life
44 year old David Hawkins of Omaha was killed following pursuit at about 3:15 Sunday morning in Pottawattamie County. The suspect vehicle crashed and Hawkins suffered fatal injuries. According to the Pottawattamie Count Sheriff, a deputy saw a 2021 Mercedes crossing the center line of Highway 92 east of Council Bluffs, and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle continued eastbound until it lef the road just east of Treynor and entered the south ditch. Deputies discovered Hawkins inside the car where he suffered serious injuries and requested EMS. Treynor Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and began life saving measures, but Hawkins died from his injuries. Due to the seriousness of the crash, traffic investigators responded to the scene. The crash and incident remain under investigation.
