Iowa Prayer Breakfast Celebrating 60th Anniversary on Statewide Day of Prayer

Des Moines, IA (March 31, 2021) - Governor of the State of Iowa, Kim Reynolds, has declared Maundy Thursday, April 01st, 2021, as a Statewide day of prayer. In response to the proclamation, the 60th Annual Iowa Prayer Breakfast will be held on Thursday, April 01st, 2021 from 7:30 - 8:45 a.m. at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center. The event will also be broadcast online.

For 60 years the Iowa Prayer Breakfast has brought together Iowa's governor, state legislators, and community and religious leaders to join with the public to ask God's direction and blessing upon the state. People from all walks of life have enjoyed the reading of Scripture, listening to local vocalists and musicians, and hearing an inspiring message from a selected keynote speaker. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, masks will be required, and social distancing will be encouraged throughout the event.

Due to the pandemic this year, there will be no breakfast served at the Iowa Prayer Breakfast. Instead, donors and attendees are partnering with the Iowa Events Center, Hope Ministries, and Central Iowa Shelter and Services to distribute nearly over 650 meals typically served at the Iowa Prayer Breakfast to those who need it most affected by the pandemic.

This year's keynote speaker will be Former Navy SEAL Chad Williams.

Days before Chad Williams was to report to military duty in Great Lakes, Illinois, he turned on a television and was greeted with the horrifying images of his mentor, US Navy SEAL Scott Helvenston, being brutally murdered in a premeditated ambush on the roads of Fallujah, Iraq. Steeled in his resolve, Chad followed in Scott's footsteps and completed the US military's most difficult and grueling training to become a Navy SEAL. Chad served his country on SEAL Teams One and Seven for five years, completing tours of duty in the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Iraq.

Tickets are $30. The livestream will be free with a suggested donation of $30. All are encouraged to register at iowaprayerbreakfast.com/registration. For general questions, email questions@iowaprayerbreakfast.com.
