DOT road project starts Friday, will cause Denison detours

The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) will begin a $3 million pavement resurfacing project that requires closing part of Iowa Highway 39 in Crawford County later this week.

The roadway segment from U.S. Highway 59 to Avenue C in Denison will be closed beginning Friday, April 9th. It should be fully open again on Monday, April 26th, if the weather allows.

The initial detour for Friday's milling of the existing pavement will take U.S. 59 to Arrowhead Road and Avenue C. That detour is set to be removed for the weekend and put back in place on Monday, April 12th so a Des Moines contract crew can begin widening the road. The detour will be removed again after the widening work is done but is expected to return on the 26th for the last phase of the project.
