-24 year old Rae Horton of Carroll was taken into custody in the early morning of Monday, August 17th after allegedly stabbing a woman with a knife. A little after 4:00 a.m. on Monday morning, the Carroll Police Department were dispatched to a local apartment. When authorities arrived, they spoke with the victim who told them Horton had stabbed her in the chest and had chased her with an axe. An officer observed dried blood on the victim's shirt and confirmed that she had suffered a half inch puncture to the upper left breast. Horton admitted to being in a verbal altercation but denies the attack. A search of the apartment revealed an axe under the pillow on a bed Horton had been sleeping on. Horton was arrested and transported to the Carroll County jail where she was charged with assault causing bodily injury. Horton was released from custody on her recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, September 3rd for a preliminary hearing. This is not Horton's first violent arrest this year, as she was arrested by the Audubon Police Department for first-offense domestic abuse assault with a dangerous weapon. That particular case is scheduled for trial in Audubon County District Court on Tuesday, September 29th.
-As of Wednesday, the Denison Care Center was happy to announce that there have been no new cases of covid19 this past week. Residents with concerns or questions are encouraged to give them a call.
-The city of Carroll announced the Carroll Aquatic Center will be closing for the remainder of their season after a lifeguard tested positive for Covid19. Since the positive test, multiple employees have been advised by Carroll County Public Health to quarantine for at least 14 days due to their close contact with the positive individual. As a result, the city no longer has the amount of active staff members necessary to keep the Aquatic Center open for the remainder of the season. Officials are currently evaluating if the Rec Center pool will have enough staff to continue their operations.
-37 year old Jesse Hutton of Sac City has received a 10 year prison sentence after charges that stem from a December 2019 arrest, when law enforcement in Sac City exuted a search warrant, as Hutton was found sleeping in his Silverado pick-up in his driveway. A search of the vehicle recovered a plastic twist top container between the driver seat and center console with about 14 and a half grams of meth. Also found tucked in the center console was marijuana and Hutton had roughly 5 grams of meth on his person.
Hutton was charged with possession of a controlled substance, being methamphetamine, with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, that being marijuana with intent to deliver, as well as failure to affix a drug stamp.
