One dead, three injured in Saturday head-on collision

The Iowa State Patrol reported that a Cherokee woman died and three Denison residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Crawford County on Saturday. The accident happened shortly before 7:30 a.m. Saturday just south of 25th Avenue on Highway 59. A 2018 Toyota Camry driven by 39-year-old Corina Campa of Denison was traveling south on Highway 59. A 2017 Nissan Sentra piloted by 30-year-old Theresa Denery of Cherokee was traveling north on the highway. The report indicates that Denery crossed the center line and struck Campa's vehicle head-on. Campa and her two passengers were later transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Crawford County Memorial Hospital and Manilla Ambulance along with members of the Denison Volunteer Fire Department and Dow City-Arion Fire Department all responded to the scene.
