  POSSIBLE BIKE TRAIL

Anyone interested in the development of a possible bike trail or additional walking trail around Denison are invited to a meeting to discuss this project at a special meeting on Friday at 5:00 at Cronk's Cafe in Denison.  There is potential funding available- but in order to receive the funds, a qualifiying plan must be submitted.



MARCH PAPER DRIVE

The BoyScouts of Troop 55 in Denison in will hold the MARCH paper drive on Saturday, March 13th at the Walmart parking lot.  The boys will be there from 9 - 1:00 to help you unload your tied, bundled or sacked newspapers.  You may bring your acceptable papers in either paper bags or cardboard boxes; please no plastic bags.


SPRING AUCTION EXTRAVAGANZA

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School Annual Fundraiser , "Spring Auction Extravaganza" will be on Saturday, March 13th at the Boulders Conference Center. Doors open at 5:00 and music at 5:30.  Dinner catered by Staleys and a Silent & Live Auction.  Featuring music of the World War II era, performed by The Avi8tors from 7-8:00 pm.  Tickets can be purchased at the St. Rose Rectory, school or at the door.


EUCHRE TOURNAMENT

Ricketts Community Club is sponsoring a Eurchre Tournament at the Ricketts Center on Sunday,  March 14.  Sign up is at 5:30.  Play is at 6:00.  Teams of 4 or come single and we'll form a team.  Food and Beverages will be available.   for more information call Al at 679-2436. CANCER SOCIETY DAFFODILS AVAILABLE

Daffodil bouquets ordered through the American Cancer Society will be available for distribution to area residents on Monday, March 15.  Local residents can pick up their orders after 10:00 am on Monday at Country Rose Flower shop in Denison.  Local businesses will have their orders delivered on Tuesday, March 16.  Extra bouquets have been ordered.  If interested in purchasing daffodils, please call Shirley Vipond at 263-4893



 

DENISON LIBRARY FRIENDS TO MEET

The Denison Library Friends will meet on Monday, March 15 at 4:00 in the Library Meeting Room. 
On the agenda will be reports from the secretary and treasurer, committee reports, report on Trust, change of meeting date, coffee corner, and a report from the Library Director.
The meeting is open to all members of the Denison Library Friends.  Friends memberships are available at the Libary and the cost is $5.00 for a single; $10 for a family and $25 for a sponsor membership.  If you are not already a Denison Libary Friends member, you are invited and encouraged to become a part of this library support group.



CUTIE PIE QUICK PICS

Portraits by Hope will be taking "Spring Photos" on Tuesday, March 16 from 2:30 - 7:00pm at the Children's Imaginaton Station in Denison.  The portraits will be delivered and ready for pickup on Wednesday, March 26th at the day care.  Packages range from $15 - $35.  Part of the proceeds will help benefit Children's Imagination Station.  Take advantage of great deals on portraits, while donating to a good cause.  Schedule your appointment by stopping by the daycare or call 263-7100



HEADSTART

West Central Community Action Head Start is now enrolling for Free preschool.  Families who live within Monona, Crawford, Harrison, Shelby, Pottawattamie, Cass, Mills, Montgomery, Fremont and Page County and have a child under the age of five may qualify.  WCCA also offers affordable child care combined with a Head Start program in some locations.  Children with special needs are welcome.  Families must qualify to enroll; however, income is not a limiting factor for all programs.  Program availablitiy is limited and spaces fill up quickly, so please call 800-698-5886 today to learn more. 


IMMUNIZATION CLINIC

Crawford County Public Health will be holding Immunization Clinic on Thursday, March 18 from 10 - 2 at the Public Health Office, at 105 N. Main St. in Denison.  This is a  walk-in clinic with no appointment needed.



 

KINDERGARTEN ROUND UP TIME

It's Kindergarten Round Up time at St. Rose of Lima School.  A parent informational meeting is scheduled for Tuesday evening, March 16th, at 6:30 pm in the Kindergarten classroom.  The Kindergarten program in a warm Christ centered environment will be presented by  teacher, Mrs. Angie Stangl.  Any questions parents may have will be answered at this meeting.  Information about tuition assistance will be available as well.  Potential students will attend Round Up on Friday, March 19th from 9 - 12 noon.

GREEN UP

The Denison Area Christian Women Cordually invite you to GREEN UP on Wednesday, March 17 at 1:00 at Cronks.  Speaker:  Jolene Philo from Boone, Ia will give a talk entitled" To Catch A Thief and Special Feature is Sandy Waldemar & Deb Well on China Painting.  The cost is $8.50.  Reservations can be made by calling 263-6026 or 263-4341. Reservations must be honored or used by a friend. 


 

ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE

Annual CDC  St. Patrick's Day Parade will be on Wednesday, March 17th at 4:00 in uptown Denison.  Parade line-up is at 3:45.  No parade registration required. 



COMEDY NIGHT
The Monarch Booster Club is having their Comedy Night on Saturday,  March 20th at the Boulders Conference Center in Denison.  Comedian Rock Laporte will be entertaining the crowd.  Tickets are only $25 and includes a meal.  Tickets are available at the high school office or from Radio Ran.



ALL IN FOR AUSTISM

1st Annual "All In For Autism"  Texas Hold'em Fundraiser Tournament will be on Friday, April, 2nd at Cronk's Cafe in Denison.  Start time is 7:00pm Entry fee is $40.  First place prize is a Big Screen HDTV.  All proceeds benefit AUTISM SPEAKS.  Any price donations will go on silent auction.  Must Pre-Register to Enter.



 DENISON BARBERSHOP CHAPTER

The Happiness Express (the Denison Barbershop Chapter) practices each Monday evening at 7:30, usually at the Denison High School vocal music room.  They are always looking for men who enjoy singing and fellowship with other men.  they compete in contests, perform for special occasions and will be putting on their annual show on May 8th at the Denison H.S.  For more info...call Jerry Peterman at 263-3631

Child Health Clinic:  Child Health provides a variety of medical services based on  the child's age and needs. Services may include physical examinations, immunizations, vision testing, doctor and dental referrals, nutritional and family counseling. Clinics will be held at the Methodist Church in Denison.  You must have an appointment.
Family Planning Clinic: Family Planning offers birth control, pregnancy tests, physical exams, cancer screenings, pap smears, breast exams, blood pressure, anemia screenings, tests and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases. confidential HIV screening and counseling by appointment.  Proof of U.S. Citizenship , proof of identity and proof of one full month's income, (check stubs for the entire month) is required.  Family Planning Supply Pickup: 2:00 - 4:00 pm on Wednesdays and 2:00- 4:00 on Fridays at the Public Health Office, 105 N. main St. in Denison.  You must make an appointment for anything other than these times. 
Immunization Clinics:   These are walk-in clinics with no appointment needed.  Please bring child's social security number, all immunization records and Title 19 card (if applicable)  If your insurance covers immunizations, including hawk- i  Ins. , please take your child to your family physician.

Iowa Breast & Cancer Early Detection-Care for Yourself Program: A special service for women age 40 -64.  You may be eligible to receive a variety of health examinations at no cost to you if you have no health insurance, a policy that does not cover these services, or you cannot pay your deductible or co-insurance.
Senior Health Clinic: This is a clinic for individuals 60 years and older. Physical examination includes cholesterol, blood sugar, hemoglobin and blood pressure screening.  Tetanus booster will be available.

1st & 3rd Thursday
Denison to Omaha/Council Bluffs with pickups in Arion, Dow City and Dunlap. Leaves Denison at 8am.
2nd & 4th Thursday
Denison to Sioux City with stops in Schleswig, Ricketts and Charter Oak. Leaves Denison at 8am. 
The bus leaves the senior center at 8am but will pick up residents in their homes in Denison at 7:30am for an extra $1.00.
