Helicopter Pilot Lifeflighted To Omaha Following Crash Near Deloit
The Denison Volunteer Fire Department provided mutual aid to the Deloit Volunteer Fire Department at approximately 8:30 am on Sunday, July 30th, for a helicopter crash on 310th St., North of Deloit. Many Crawford County Volunteer Fire Departments and law enforcement agencies responded to locate the crash site. Immediately after finding the crash site, the Jaws of Life were used to quickly extract the pilot. The pilot was transported by Life Flight to an Omaha hospital. The condition of the pilot is unknown at this time. Jim Clark, who does publicity work with the Denison Volunteer Fire Department, said the department cannot make any statements on accidents but did provide a comment on the investigation into the crash. “It’s under investigation with the FAA,” Clark said Crawford County Volunteer Fire Departments and other area departments respond to automatic, or mutual aid requests, to ensure emergencies are handled swiftly and safely. The responding agencies include Crawford County Sheriff's Office, Iowa State Patrol, Deloit Fire, Denison Fire, Vail Fire, Manilla Fire, Crawford County Emergency Manager, Crawford County Ambulance,
DNR, and FAA.
