Comments from the Monarch coaching staff:

We were proud of how our girls wrestled tonight, especially with a short turnaround from Saturday's
meet. We are having to fix a lot of technique and approaches to matches on the fly at this point, but
the girls are listening and starting to get the hang of things a bit. Harmony Holt was able to pick up
her first win of the season while Aremy Santos, Angie Rivera, and Claire Miller all went 2-0 on the
night to win their brackets.
We wrestled a few six minute matches, which will be a point of emphasis moving forward. We will
also need to focus on our conditioning and getting to our feet from bottom. I do like how we
typically have a plan of attack on top, but just need more mat time to understand leverage and what
to do when we get in those 50/50 positions. We are thrilled at how the girls respond to coaching and
support each other to learn the sport.
We will be back closer to full strength on Friday as we should have 20+ girls competing at Riverside.
