Don Uker
A memorial service for Don Uker of Denison will be held on August 16th at 3:30pm at the First United Methodist Church in Denison, followed by supper.
Military rites will be held at 2:30pm at the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison before the service.
Don died at peace on July 6, at home.
He is survived by his partner, Phyllis; daughters Kimberly and husband Michael Blunk and Kerry and husband John Philips; grandchildren Brittany Blunk, Collin Blunk, Maxwell Philips, Kinsey Philips, and Kate Philips; and great grandchildren Juniper Jensen, Bridger Blunk, Whitney Blunk, and Harrison Philips.

A graveside service for 63 year old Kenny Justice of Manilla will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 31at the Nishnabotna Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 31at the Memorial Hall in Manilla.
Kenny passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at his home in Manilla.
He is survived by his mother, Lillian Justice of Manilla; sisters: Denise Christensen of Manilla and Christina Justice of Manilla; sister-in-law, Amanda Justice of Grimes; nephew and nieces: Doug (Sarah) Ridgley, Stephanie (Justin) Ahrenholtz, Jessica (Alisa) Lingle, Katie Lingle, Rebecca (Dylan) Bradley, Caydence Justice and James Lingle; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; Emiry, Elli, Erikah, Everest, Weston, Wade, Austin, Winry and Imogen; aunts: Jeanne (Larry) Young, Martina (Rip) Koken, Kathy (Jim) and Penny Gunnlaugsson; uncle, Tim Jutila; and other relatives and many friends.

Mass of Christian Burial for 82-year-old Maxine Murphy of Dunlap will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dunlap. Burial will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 ~ 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap with a rosary at 4:00 p.m.
Mrs. Murphy died at the Bethany Lutheran Hone in Council Bluffs, on July 23 rd .
Maxine is survived by:Daughters: Annette and Richard Gross of Earling, Suzy and Rob King of Des Moines; Siblings: Marge and Dan Miller of Omaha, Dick and Kathy Quandt of Schleswig; Sisters-in-law: Eileen Quandt of Kiron, Marilyn Murphy of Dunlap.

A memorial service for 88-year-old Renate Olhava of Denison will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 2:00pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Persia, Iowa. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service. An interment with military rites will be held at the Valley View Cemetery in Persia following the memorial service.
Renate passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026.

Celebration of Life Services with Military Honors for 90-year-old Roger Schwieso of Harlan will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 22 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan.
He passed away, Wednesday, June 24, at his home in Harlan.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Schwieso of Harlan; his children: Sheri Marion of Lakewood, Washington, Trenton (Lisa) Hodne of Manilla, Jill (Delbert) Bissen of Defiance, and Amy (Shawn) Corbin of Urbandale; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; his brother, Dennis Schwieso (Betty Kimmen) of Sun City, Arizona; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Services are entrusted to the Heartland Funeral Home in Harlan.

Memorial Mass for 92-year-old Joanne Lapke of Dunlap will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dunlap. Mrs.Lapke died at Azria Health Rose Vista in Woodbine, on July 15th. Visitation will be from 4:00 ~ 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the St. Patrick Parish Center in Dunlap with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. A private family burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap.
Joanne is survived by: Husband: Bernard; Children: Cindy and Randy Pryor of Woodbine, Nancy and Dean Coenen of Omaha, Denise Baldwin of Dunlap, Leo and Dawn Lapke of Dunlap, Trish and John Kuehl of Omaha, Tom and Sally Lapke of LaMotte, and Jill and Kevin Davie of Omaha.

A Mass of Christian Burial for 81-year-old James Petersen of Denison will be held on Saturday July 18th at 2:00pm at the St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. A committal service will be held at the St Rose of Lima Cemetery following the service.
He passed away on Tuesday April 21st at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Karen; daughters Jody (Mike) of Denison, Dawn & Denny of Carroll, and Ann of Denison; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren with two on the way.

Graveside Services for 70-year-old Clark Zediker of Denison will be held on Friday July 10th at 10:00am at the Oakland Cemetery in Denison.
Clark passed away on Tuesday June 16th at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.
He is survived by son Randy (Tineka Rowe) Zediker of Kansas; sisters Linda Hanson of Charter Oak & Trace Ehlers of Carroll; two grandchildren; other family members and friends.

Benny John Green, age 1 month 3 days, passed away in the loving arms of his parents on June 25, at the Children’s Hospital of Omaha.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 6, in the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Charter Oak. Father Michael Cronin will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the St. Clair Township Cemetery of Ute.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 5, with a Rosary at 6:40 p.m., followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., in the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Charter Oak.

A time of sharing for 56-year-old Joe Simon of Dow City will be held on Thursday July 2nd at 7:00pm at the Boulders Conference Center in Denison. Visitation will start at 4:00pm leading up to the service time.
Joe passed away on Saturday June 27th at the University of Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.
He is survived by daughter Jenna Simon (Nathan Kriegermeier) of Minnesota; wife Ammy Staska of Missouri Valley; their children Haley (Tanner) Stevens, and Cole Staska; siblings Deborah (Stephen) Gross of Nebraska, Carolyn Backstorm of Nebraska, and John (Shirlene) Simon of Dow City.
