"It was a fun game to watch from an offensive standpoint. Both teams shot it very well in
a game of contrasting matchups. We had the advantage of having all around more
quickness against their size and were able to drive to the rim and kick for 3’s. When
they were on offense we had trouble matching up with their size near the hoop and
keeping them off the boards.
Offensively, Asher Lawler played huge all night with 23 points. Asher wwas able to dive
and get to the rim, pull up mid range and went 2-2 from 3. When Sam Julin had to sit
out of the 2 nd quarter, Asher kept us in the game.
We had a quick start to the game as we hit several 3’s from different guys. After 1 we
led 23-14 and felt pretty good. Woodbury Central began driving to the basket with their
very quick point guard Jayden Lloyd. We did not have much of an answer for him all
night. When we contained him we would break down at the rim vs their big size.
After trailing by 2 at half, the game continued to go back and forth for the rest of the
game by 2-4 points either way with several lead changes.
We hit 4-3’s in the 4 th to give us the lead and confidence. Zach Jacobsen came off the
bench to make 2-3’s, then Sam Julin and Carson Schmitt hit 3’s to cap off a great 4 th
quarter.
Our team is undersized but play with a big heart. It was good team win to start out the
season. We sizzled from 3 with 14-24 shooting. We made great passes that got our
shooters in position to knock them down at a high rate. Was also really impressed with
just 7 turnovers in a high possession game."
