OABCIG alum, Eagles star Cooper DeJean announced as Rookie of the Year finalist
On Thursday, the Associated Press and the NFL announced all of the finalists for their respective awards including MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and more.
Amongst those awards is the Defensive Rookie of the Year awarded to the most outstanding rookie defender during the regular season. Five finalists were announced including alum of OABCIG and former Iowa Hawkeye, Cooper DeJean of the Philadelphia Eagles.
DeJean, after compiling 51 combined tackles, six pass deflection, and one forced fumble, was also selected to the NFL's all-rookie team earlier this month. DeJean played in 16 games, starting in nine of them including the Eagles playoff matchups agaisnt Green Bay and Los Angeles and was the seventh ranked cornerback in Pro Football Focus.
DeJean will join his teammate Quinyon Mitchell, Braden Fiske & Jared Verse of the Rams, and Chop Robinson of Miami as finalists for the award. The NFL Awards Show will take place the week of the Super Bowl, February 6 at 8 p.m CT on FOX & NFL Network.
The Eagles take on division rivals the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship this Sunday at 2 p.m CT on FOX with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.
