Western Iowa Conference extends invitation to league for 10 schools

A discussion that has been ongoing for the last two and a half years reached an apex on Wednesday afternoon, as the Western Iowa Conference sent league invitations to 10 schools.
As was first reported by KMA Sports, the 10 schools make up a wide range of land on the western side of the state. ACGC, Earlham, MVAOCOU, Nodaway Valley, Panorama, Red Oak, Shenandoah, Southwest Valley West Central Valley and Westwood all received invites following a 9-0 vote from the Western Iowa Conference Board of Control.
The steps forward at this point include a response from the invited schools, discussion among WIC school boards and then potential acceptance into the conference for the invited schools. Of course, there are some other circumstances ongoing around these 10 invites.
Also on Wednesday, a legislative bill focusing on conference realignment state-wide was signed by Governor Kim Reynolds. Additionally, Audubon and IKM-Manning could act on their Rolling Valley Conference invitation this month.
