Monarchs drop season opener to Sioux City West 69-48

The Denison-Schleswig Monarchs opened the 2025 season on the road Friday night and showed flashes early, but ultimately fell to Sioux City West 69–48.
Denison-Schleswig set the tone early by leading for most of the first quarter, before a late Sioux City West three-pointer gave the Wolverines an 18–15 advantage at the end of one. West extended the lead heading into halftime, taking a 33–23 edge into the break.
The Monarchs came out strong in the third quarter and battled their way back into the game, cutting the deficit to 47–38 after three quarters of play. However, Sioux City West pulled away in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
