Postseason basketball tips off Thursday night as Girls Class 1A Regional Tournament play gets underway, featuring a familiar matchup between two area programs.

(10-13) Boyer Valley will hit the road to take on (9-12) Woodbine in what should be a competitive opening-round battle.

These Rolling Valley Conference foes know each other well they met twice during the regular season, with Woodbine coming away with wins in both contests. Despite those results, tournament basketball always brings a different level of intensity, and Boyer Valley will look to flip the script when it matters most.

I had the chance to catch up with Boyer Valley Head Coach Justin Davis to talk about the matchup, what his team learned from the two regular-season meetings, and what it will take to advance in regional play.

Coach Davis discussed his team’s growth throughout the season, key players stepping into bigger roles, and the importance of limiting turnovers and controlling tempo against a Woodbine squad that’s been tough defensively.
