Monarch Softball Battles Clarinda in Extra-Inning Thriller but drops both
MONARCH SOFTBALL POSTGAME RECAP
 
The Denison-Schleswig Monarch softball team battled all night but came up short in a home doubleheader against Clarinda.
 
In Game 1, the Monarchs and Cardinals needed extra innings before Clarinda escaped with an 11-10 victory in 9 innings. Denison-Schleswig finished with 10 hits in the contest.
 
Kastner Seed Hoegemeyer Hit of the Game:
Grace Collins earns tonight’s honor for her performance at the plate two doubles, single & 3 RBI’s.
 
🍕 Pizza Ranch Delivery of the Game:
Avery Bock’s heads-up baserunning tied the game after scoring on a passed ball, helping force extra innings.
 
Clarinda completed the sweep with an 11-4 win in Game 2.
 
Kastner Seed Hoegemeyer Hit of the Game: Emily Gehlsen’s double off the top of the center field fence along with a single and getting hit by a pitch.
 
🍕 Pizza Ranch Delivery of the Game:
Isabelle Blume’s defensive effort in left field. Blume made several key plays to retire the side in the 6th inning and keep the Monarchs within striking distance.
 
The Monarchs fall to 11-13 on the season while Clarinda improves to 14-8.
 
Denison-Schleswig returns to action Tuesday night at St. Albert.
