2026 Area College Football Preview: Iowa Western Community College
On the heels of another NJCAA D1 National Championship, the expectations are as high as ever in Council Bluffs for Iowa Western Football. The Reivers finished 12-1 last season, capping it off with a 28-10 win over Hutchinson in the national title game for the program's fourth title and third in four seasons.
With roster turnover, losing the likes of D1 Player of the Year at QB Malchi Marshall (transferred to Florida State), and pieces on the d-line that racked up an NJCAA record 75 sacks in 13 games, there's plenty of work for reigning coach of the year Scott Strohmeier, who enters his 18th year at the helm.
But with a great recruiting and transfer class once again, key offensive pieces like St. Albert's Tony Busch, four of five offensive lineman returning, and a competitive QB battle at camp, the Reivers look to make some noise again and compete for another national title.
