2026 Area College Football Preview: Drake University
It's a new era for Bulldog football as Matt Walker comes over from D3 Wisconsin-River Falls to Des Moines to lead Drake into the season. Walker takes over after leading UWRF to their D3 National Championship, their first playoff appearance since 1998, & their first conference title since 1996.
Walker will be taking over a Drake program that won their third straight Pioneer football crown & FCS playoff appearance, seeking to get over the first-round hump as they fell to South Dakota last season.
The Bulldogs will have pieces to put together on offense, but with flashy athletes like Lewis Central's Lucci Fidone, and key returning defensive players, Matt Walker looks to build an FCS power and continue his winning pedigree.
