Crawford County Adopts Certificate For New Wind Towers
Crawford County adopted the new wind turbine construction compliance certificate on Tuesday.
Board of Supervisors Chairman Kyle Schultz says they mainly finalized setback requirements during a lengthy discussion before adopting the item.
"We were afraid of getting behind the 8-ball if we didn't get something done pretty soon with the talk of the new wind farm coming into the southwest part of the county. We wanted to have something on the books before they were here and we were trying to play catch-up again," said Schultz.
He says some of the citizens who attended the meeting seem to like having the setbacks in place but still have concerns about wind turbines overall.
Schultz says the county also signed the final version of their contract with L&L Builders Company of Sioux City for courthouse restroom renovations which are expected to cost around $350,000.
"When you start trying to stay true to the spirit of the interior of the courthouse I'm sure that just adds dollar signs. I agree we needed to keep it as historical as we could with a few modern touches," said Schultz.
The board set the public hearing about vacating the streets in the unincorporated town of Kenwood for 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27 at the courthouse.
