The Norelius Community Library Campus Gets A Makeover
At least 11 volunteers gathered at the library on Sunday, June 11th, to give the campus a fresh, new look. Volunteers donned gloves, tools, and even a Kubota tractor to transform the campus. Monica Walley, the Library Director, said the act of service was greatly appreciated. Walley said the library campus needed a refresher. “Well, we had some very tired gardens on the entryway of the library and some overgrowth around the bushes on the west side of the building, so this crew decided to attack it.” The Kubota tractor was used to pull out different plants and deep-rooted bushes that were not faring well. The volunteers raked and pulled weeds, leaving the campus with new rose bushes near the retaining wall. Walley said after a good watering, she hopes the plants look plush. When asked what the volunteers’ work meant to the library, Walley said, “I can’t tell you what that means… For the community to come together and help us in this way, it’s just an amazing thing to see not only their love for landscaping but the love for their library and this community.” Walley mentioned the area is large, and any help with the weeding would be appreciated. “So if anybody is willing and able to do that, we most certainly welcome that.” If anyone is interested in helping with the landscaping at the library, please call 712-263-9355.
