Representative Steven Holt Files for Re-Election
(Denison, IA) – This week, Statehouse Representative Steven Holt (R-Denison) filed for re-election to the Iowa House. Holt is running for House District 12 which contains all of Ida and Crawford counties and a northern portion of Shelby county.
"I am honored to serve as the representative for House District 12," Holt said. "Since I was first elected, we have made great progress on many issues that I am passionate about, such as protecting life, defending freedom, and keeping the American Dream intact. Though I am proud of the many key pieces of legislation we have passed on this front, the work to defend what makes our country and our state great is never finished. I am honored to announce my bid for re-election to the Iowa House."
Holt was first elected to the Iowa House in 2014. Before his time in the Statehouse, Holt served our country for 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, completing numerous deployments overseas, and receiving countless decorations. After his military service, Holt worked in law enforcement and was also a small business owner.
In the House, Holt is chair of the Judiciary committee. Additionally, he serves on the Education, Public Safety, Appropriations, and Government Oversight committees. Speaker of the Iowa House Pat Grassley (R- New Hartford) said Holt's leadership in the Iowa House has been crucial to moving forward on many of the issues Iowans care most about.
"Iowa has become a conservative leader to other states around the country because of the hard work of Representative Steve Holt," Grassley said. "He has been a fearless leader on many of the conservative causes that have allowed Iowa to become the Freedom Capitol of the Midwest. I look forward to continuing to work with Steve in the Iowa House to deliver on the issues Iowans care most about."
Holt is seeking his sixth term in the Iowa House. He lives in Denison with his wife Crystal. Together they have five children and four grandchildren.
