Large fuel spill in Woodbine on Sunday
(KNOD) County Hazmat, the Woodbine Fire Department, Harlan Fire Department and 5 other fire departments were called to a large gas spill at Casey’s in Woodbine on Sunday morning. There was a malfunction with the valve in the truck and the driver of the truck could not stop the flow of fuel from the tanker. Several hundred gallons of fuel went onto the Casey’s driveway, down the street and into the storm sewers. Oil Dry was put in all the manholes in the city to stop the flow of fuel from getting into the river. A company from Omaha then came in and cleaned out the man holes and no fuel reached the river. The DNR was on site and Tri-County Hazmat was on site for about 2 hours.
