Groundbreaking Ceremony Held at CCMH for Construction and Remodeling Project

(Denison, IA) – A group of about 40 people including staff, media, and community members,
gathered for the groundbreaking ceremony held at Crawford County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) on
August 9, 2024. The construction and remodeling project will expand the CCMH Medical Clinic, remodelexisting Rehab Services spaces, and add private patient registration bays.
During the ceremony, Don Luensmann, Executive Director of Marketing and Development, acted as
Master of Ceremonies. Brief remarks were offered by Jay Mendlik, Chairman of the CCMH Board of
Trustees; Erin Muck, President and CEO of CCMH; Heidi Willis, Senior Partner at Invision Architects, Des Moines, IA ; and Matt Leaders, Vice President and General Manager of the Central Iowa Region, Graham Construction.
Invision Architects led the design element of the construction and remodeling project
while Graham Construction will serve as the Construction Manager at Risk (CmaR).
Others who participated in the groundbreaking ceremony included Sid Liese, David Reisz, Amy
Schultz and Jon Schuttinga, CCMH Board of Trustees; Dr. Michael Luft, Chief Medical Officer and Julie Graeve, ARNP, representing the CCMH Medical Staff; Matt Cramer, Invision Architecture; Eric Henderson, IMEG, Design Partners; and Matt Foster, Superintendent, Graham Construction.
The construction and remodeling project will be conducted in several phases to ensure continuous
service to the community while minimizing disruptions.
The next steps in the project including erecting fencing to enclosed the construction areas for the
safety of patients and construction workers alike, and the installation of a new sewer line which will
stretch across the parking area to the sewer main north of the CCMH building.
