Denison Municipal Utilities to Place New Water Tower in Service Friday
The new water tower at 24th Street is nearly complete and has been filled. Water samples testing for coliform bacteria are being collected over the next few days. Once DMU receives the passing test
results, and the final electrical connections have been made, DMU plans to place the water tower in
service. DMU anticipates placing the water tower in service on Friday September 6, 2024.
The 24th Street water tower will increase pressure in the benefitted area as shown. This area currently experiences pressures between 25 to 50 psi. Normal working pressures in a water distribution system should be approximately 60 to 80 psi. Construction of the 63-foot taller water tower will add approximately 27 psi to the system. The result is higher pressure and increased flows to your property.
They recommend you monitor your plumbing for signs of leaks during and after the pressure is increased. Should you notice any leaks, shut off the water service valve to the property immediately and contact a plumber for service. The water service valve is typically located next to the water meter in the basement.
Please note that DMU is only responsible for the water service from the water main to the curb stop
which is typically located by your sidewalk. The property owner owns the water service from the curb
stop to the home/building with exception to the water meter.
