Strong Thunderstorms in the forecast for Thursday
The National Weather Service is monitoring a storm system that is expected to develop along a frontal boundary late tomorrow afternoon into the evening hours. The National Weather Service in Des Moines says there is a potential for showers and thunderstorms on Thursday at two different times during the day. The day could start with lingering non-severe showers and thunderstorms, with a chance for strong to severe thunderstorms late afternoon into the evening. The main threat for severe weather is across northern Iowa, with a slight chance for strong to severe storms into southwest, and central Iowa in the afternoon through early evening hours. The main threats will be large hail, damaging winds, and possibly one or two tornadoes. There are additional chances for showers and thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday during the weekend.
