Armadillos are being found in Cass County
The Cass County Sheriff’s office posted to social media Saturday to confirm that these animals that are normally in Texas and Mexico have made their way into the Cass County Area. The Sheriff’s office reports that they have had a number of armadillos hit on the highways. The DNR has been tracking armadillo migrations as they continue to move north. If you see one of these animals, leave it alone, but go ahead and take a picture for the DNR with the location you saw it. In July, the DNR reported that for 100 years, Armadillos have been expanding northward across the United States from Mexico. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says it’s not known how many are actually living in Iowa, but at the time of their report, said two recent sightings in central Iowa were part of a growing trend.
