Scouting America Hosts Free Outdoor Family Fun Day on August 2
HARLAN, IOWA — Get ready for an unforgettable evening of outdoor adventure and family fun!
On Saturday, August 2 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., Prairie Rose State Park will transform into Nature’s
Playground for a community-wide celebration of exploration, excitement, and hands-on fun.
This FREE family-friendly event promises a jam-packed schedule of engaging activities for kids
and adults alike. Begin the journey with a scavenger hunt and scenic hike, then enjoy high-energy
favorites like the foam machine, giant bubble maker, and parachute games. As the sun goes
down, the excitement lights up with glow-in-the-dark kickball and even more surprises waiting to
be discovered.
“We’re thrilled to invite families to experience the outdoors in a way that’s both active and
memorable,” said Becky Mahoney, Field Director. “It’s the perfect opportunity to unplug, reconnect,
and create lasting memories together in a beautiful natural setting.”

A meal will be available for purchase for just $5 and includes a hot dog, chips, cookie, and bottled
water. Families are also welcome to bring their own food and snacks.
