Wendy Larson Announces Candidacy for Iowa House District 7 Special Election

Constitutional Conservative Committed to Faith, Family, and Freedom Seeks Republican Nomination
[Odebolt, Iowa] Wendy Larson, a dedicated wife, mother, and small business owner, today announced her candidacy for the Iowa House of Representatives District 7 in the upcoming special election. As a lifelong Constitutional Conservative, Larson is stepping forward to continue the strong Republican tradition in the district.
The special election on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, will fill the vacancy left by Representative Mike Sexton. Republicans will select their nominee for the December ballot at the October 14th district nominating convention to held at Rockwell City Courthouse beginning at 6:00 PM. Larson pledges to earn delegates' support through her record of community service and commitment to Iowa values. Wendy has proven her commitment to District 7 when she knocked on over 3,000 doors in her first ever campaign in the primary this last election. She came within 55 votes of Sexton, the decades long incumbent.
A mother of three and wife of 25 years to Chad, Wendy has deep roots in the farming community. She is a small business owner and has a B.A. from Colorado State University and has homeschooled her three children. Wendy also serves as a deaconess and middle school youth leader at her church, guiding the next generation's moral growth. She is actively involved in the mobile food pantry for her area and delivers food to the shut-ins in need of assistance.
Iowa House District 7 includes rural Calhoun, Sac, and Pocahontas counties, plus part of Webster County. With 150 years of family farming in the region, agriculture is near and dear to Wendy and Chad’s hearts, representing hardworking families, farmers, and small businesses facing unique challenges—from supporting local agriculture to protecting farms from regulations.
"I will stand up for conservative values by upholding the Constitution," Wendy declared. "I believe in America and love what it stands for, and I am ready to protect, defend, and expand our freedoms in Iowa. I promise to stand on our American principles of Faith, Family, and Freedom."
Wendy's pro-family platform prioritizes Iowa's core values. A staunch pro-life advocate, she protects the unborn and supports mothers. She champions medical freedom for healthcare decisions free from government overreach and defends the Second Amendment for law-abiding citizens.
Embracing limited government, Larson opposes wasteful spending and red tape. Larson stands against CO2 pipeline projects threatening eminent domain of our farmland, foreign landownership endangering security, and indoctrination of children in schools—advocating for parental rights instead. She advocates for secure borders and eradicating sex trafficking through enforcement and victim support.
"Wendy Larson is the principled leader District 7 needs," said a Sac County supporter. "Her faith-driven approach and business savvy will deliver for our families and farms."
