Yesterday morning, more than 30 teams raced through Fareway in Carroll for the annual Pack the Pantry event — a friendly, high-energy competition that supports families in the IKM-Manning School District. The event was sponsored by C3 (Christ, Community, Celebration) of Manning, the Manning Rotary, and the IKM-Manning National Honor Society.

Each three-person team had just five minutes to fill their carts, trying to land as close as possible to $250 worth of groceries without going over. When the totals were tallied, the Jeremy and Gina Carroll Family came the closest, missing the mark by just 39 cents. AGP followed closely at 43 cents under, and the Bryce Irlbeck Family finished third, just $1.27 short of the target.

After the fun, every team purchased the items they gathered — all of which were donated to the Manning Food Pantry. In total, a trailer loaded with $11,282.70 worth of groceries will soon help restock the pantry’s shelves and support local families in need.

Organizers extended their appreciation to every team, sponsor, and the Fareway staff for their continued enthusiasm and generosity in making this community tradition a success year after year.
