Representative Steven Holt Files for Re-Election

(Denison, IA) – Thursday, February 26, 2026, Statehouse
"It is with great honor that I submit my paperwork to file for re-election to House District 12," Holt said. "Since I was first elected, we have delivered landmark victories for personal freedom and significant tax relief. I’m asking for the opportunity to stay in the fight to continue to deliver on common sense policies and keep the radical nonsense of the far-left out of Iowa."
Holt was first elected to the Iowa House in 2014. Before his time in the Statehouse, Holt served our country for 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, completing numerous deployments overseas and receiving countless decorations. After his military service, Holt has worked as a Deputy Sheriff, Police Chief, and a small business owner.
In the House, Holt is chair of the Judiciary Committee. Additionally, he serves on the Higher Education, Public Safety, Ways and Means, and Government Oversight committees.
Holt is seeking his seventh term in the Iowa House. He lives in Denison with his wife, Crystal. Together, they have five children and four grandchildren.
