Deloit Man Pleads Not Guilty to Kidnapping and Sexual Abuse Charges; Trial Set for May 5

A Deloit man has entered a not guilty plea to multiple felony charges, including kidnapping and sexual abuse, and is scheduled to stand trial this spring.

Court records filed in Crawford County District Court show that 51-year-old Clemente Velasco was arrested earlier this year on a warrant stemming from an alleged incident in November 2025. Authorities allege Velasco forced a woman to engage in a sexual act and threatened to kill her and members of her family if she refused. Investigators further claim he restrained the woman by her hair to prevent her from leaving.

Velasco is charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony, along with third-degree kidnapping and third-degree sexual abuse, both Class C felonies. He posted a $35,000 surety bond and was released from custody on January 13.

A jury trial is scheduled to begin May 5 at the Crawford County Courthouse. If convicted on all counts, Velasco could face up to 45 years in prison and more than $27,000 in fines.
