Monarch Girls Soccer: Lose 1-3
Kyra Hawn scored her 1st goal of the season, assisted by Estela Lupian (5th assist of the season) on a shot from 35 yards out just under the crossbar. Lupian had the ball about 20 yards out and Atlantic packed the box, so she dropped the pass to Hawn for the shot.
-Comments from Coach Eller: “Honestly, both teams played very good defense and shots were hard to come by for both teams. Atlantic put 2 great shots in from distance and we put 1 great shot in from distance. We had several great chances inside of 15 yards that we just didn’t convert, whether those were 1 on 1s vs their keeper or being able to finish after a good crossing pass. We missed out on 5 or 6 great chances inside of 15 yards that we either shot wide, shot right to their keeper, or had them steal the ball from us in 1 on 1 situations. That’s been a thorn in our side this season as we are struggling to finish really good chances. We continue to struggle with stringing enough passes together consecutively to win the possession battle in our offensive third as we will make too many inaccurate passes or lose the ball after a good pass by not keeping the ball close enough to our feet. Those are the 2 main reasons we are struggling to score goals this season. If we even convert only half of our great chances, we would have won this game. The effort was great and the defense was really good for the most part. Atlantic just made more plays than we did”.
