Drake's Joe Woodley previews the University of San Diego
After opening the Pioneer Football League race with a win over Valparaiso, Drake makes the long trip west this weekend to visit preseason favorite San Diego. Like the Bulldogs, the Toreros had a tough early schedule and are coming off a league loss at Marist. That's Drake coach Joe Woodley. It is the first long trip for the Bulldogs, who will also visit the East Coast. San Diego is 3-3 overall, and four of their games have been decided by a touchdown or less. Drake entered fall camp without a starter at quarterback, and Woodley feels he now has two he can win with. Tennessee State transfer Chase Spellman returned from injury and played the first half in the win over Valparaiso and true freshman Logan Inagawa ignited the run game in the second half. Both will play on Saturday. Drake is 2-2.
