Carroll County Conservation Gets Grant for Swan Lake Display
Carroll County Conservation receives a $250 grant for a hands-on display at the Swan Lake Conservation Education Center.
Kristen Bieret the Environmental Education Coordinator says the grant money will allow for the purchase of animal artifacts as well as tracks for identification.
“Our goal for this building is a jumping-off point to get people outside and get excited of what they might find. We like to have things in the building for them to kind of pique their interest so that when they’re out they might look for those tracks or look for those artifacts that get left behind.”
Bieret says the artifacts are part of an ongoing effort to upgrade what they have to offer.
“It means a lot because obviously we are limited within our budget. We’re kind of trying to change things up a little bit so that we can keep things in good quality but also keep having new learning opportunities so things don’t stay stagnant around here.” She says they are planning to make even more improvements over the next few years.
