17-Year Old Taken Into Custody After Eluding From Law Enforcement Outside Of Carroll On Highway 30
(Carroll Broadcasting) – Carroll Broadcasting reports a chase involving a juvenile male and a Carroll County Sheriff Deputy ended in a crash occurring east of Carroll on Highway 30 Tuesday morning. At approximately 11:30 a.m. while trying to perform a traffic stop, the 17-year old male from Manning took off from law enforcement in a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 eastbound on Highway 30 just east of the Hawthorne Avenue intersection. The juvenile crossed over the center line, entering a field to avoid deputies stop sticks and returned to highway 30 driving into oncoming traffic. A Carroll County Sheriff Deputy, in a 2021 Dodge Durango made contact with the truck on the rear passenger side, causing the truck to become disabled and come to a stop on the westbound side of Highway 30. After a short foot chase, the juvenile was taken into custody. Both parties involved in the accident reported no injuries and both vehicles sustained damage in the crash. The Carroll Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol were the agencies that responded to the chase.
